Statutory law is a state-authorized activity that ensures the safety and security of ships while also protecting the maritime environment. Document inspection, inspection, survey, audit, and certification activities related to maritime safety, marine environment protection, seafarers' welfare, implementation of safety management system audits, and ship and port security management systems are among the statutory activities provided to BKI.

The Directorate General of Sea Transportation has delegated to BKI the Satutoria Process, which entails conducting statutory surveys and issuing certificates of compliance for BKI Class ships bearing the flag of Indonesia that operate in international shipping zones. This action is designed to assure ship safety and security while also protecting the maritime environment.
