JAKARTA – PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) or BKI, as the lead holding company of BUMN survey services, IDSurvey, consisting of PT SUCOFINDO and PT Surveyor Indonesia, has again strengthened its synergy in the maritime sector. On February 6, 2025, BKI signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) or PELNI at BKI Head Office, Jakarta. This collaboration aims to improve the safety and efficiency of sea transportation through various strategic initiatives.
The signing of the memorandum of understanding was attended by Andry Tanudjaja as Director of Institutional Relations of PT BKI (Persero), Robert MP Sinaga as Director of Fleet and Engineering of PT PELNI (Persero), Deputy Director of Classification Business Management of PT BKI (Persero), Arief Budi Permana, Deputy Director of Commercial Business Management of PT BKI (Persero), Erwin Ernanto Hoesni, VP of Corporate Marketing Division of IDSurvey, Winda Ary Susanti, VP Owner Surveyor of PT PELNI (Persero), Darman, VP Nautika of PT PELNI (Persero), Tomi Santoso, VP of Fuel & Lubricant Management of PT PELNI (Persero), Otto Van Muller. This collaboration is a strategic step in strengthening synergy between BUMN in the maritime sector which covers various important aspects in the maritime industry, ranging from training and development of human resources, utilization of survey and inspection technology, to ship classification and other technical aspects. This synergy aims to improve ship safety standards, support fleet maintenance, and encourage innovation in maritime transportation operations.
"The purpose of this MoU is to strengthen cooperation between BUMN in the maritime sector, especially in the aspect of ship safety. We want to support PELNI in the construction of new ships, and fleet maintenance and ensure that ship health and safety standards are maintained," said Andry Tanudjaja.
In line with this event, the Director of Fleet and Engineering of PT PELNI (Persero), Robert MP Sinaga, emphasized the importance of BKI's role in ship classification and hoped that this cooperation would continue to grow. "We hope that this synergy will be even closer. All PELNI ships have been classified by BKI, and we greatly rely on their support and input, especially in survey and consultation services," he said.
