PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) held a Coating in Shipbuilding Workshop. This activity was carried out in order to socialize the requirements and testing of paint in the shipping industry on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Ali Sadikin Ballroom, BKI Main Building. The workshop was attended by the Deputy Director of Classification Management of BKI, Mr. Arief Budi Permana, Supervisory Board of the Indonesian Paint Manufacturers Association, Mr. Yudirzal, Secretary General of the Indonesian Paint Manufacturers Association, Mr. Markus Winarto, and Mr. Yuli Purwanto as Head of SUCOFINDO Chemical Laboratory Section.

On the development of the Indonesian paint industry, BKI has also been assigned regarding TKDN certification which focuses on the shipping industry. By achieving this, it is hoped that BKI and SUCOFINDO can commit to improve performance and quality in ensuring safety of all shipping components including paint. This has been conveyed directly by the VP of Material Components. "Hopefully today's workshop can provide benefits, a more detailed understanding of paint because it will be explained clearly, besides that we can share in the discussion session later," said Munir.

"Talking about shipbuilding, I remember the experience at that time, I got the opportunity to get supervision of the largest ship at PT PAL. Indeed, this coating is important regarding safety, so is IMO. In the current development, many coating manufacturers in Indonesia have grown and have been certified by BKI. I am proud because it is not only at the international level but also at the national level. So, our hope with BKI, safety is the main factor as a guarantee that ships must operate safely," concluded Deputy Director of Classification Business Management of BKI, Arief.
